This is what HS2 is about to destroy…

IMG_9755-1.JPG

Following a series of extraordinary events, operatives from HS2 have been ordered to create an access road enabling re-routing of the Stamford Brook Sewer as a result of the HS2 railway line works. The access road will mean the complete destruction of a large portion of the Scrubs’ most wild, least disturbed natural habitat, the cutting down of trees and driving out of native species.

In this photo you can see the area on the left - the bank of thick vegetation and trees to the north west of the Scrubs. On a map it looks like a small proportion of the Scrubs as a whole but in fact for the natural biodiversity this section of the Scrubs is probably supremely important.

FOWWS is working with local residents and supporters such as former foreign secretary Lord Hague, naturalist Chris Packham, ornithologist David Lindo, the London Wildlife Trust and many other bodies to fight this development - there is an alternative route which would cause less devastation to the Scrubs.
