Bird Ringing Demo

Model Aircraft Flying Zone

what3words\\\dates.jelly.over

Facilitated by Bill Haines of the West London Birding Group. Bill has over 25 years of experience with bird ringing and has worked for the RSPB, WWT and BTO during his career as an ornithologist. The ringing demonstration will be drop in (join us whenever you can!), but there's a higher chance of seeing interesting things earlier in the morning - so do keep that in mind. We will have a central hub on the Model Aircraft Flying Zone (just north of the central copse), and I have included a what3words location for you all (see above).

Annual General Meeting of FOWWS

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Friends of the Scrubs will be held on Tuesday 25th June at Brickfields Hall, Eynham Road, London W12 at 6.30pm.

(Scroll to the bottom for documents)

There will be all the usual items at an AGM, (Review of the past year, Accounts, etc) and discussion about issues facing the Scrubs.

We expect discussion of the proposed Masterplan to be an important element of the meeting, both the formal planning application from WSCT to OPDC and our objection to it, which many of you have already supported, and the Masterplan works which are not part of the planning application too.

The Charity’s constitution says that three existing Trustees must stand down at each AGM, and it is the turn of Emma Ransom and Faye Thomas who are retiring under the rotation rules, and Joaquim Pereira who was co-opted as a trustee earlier this year and therefore must now be re-elected. We are very fortunate in that all three trustees are offering themselves for re-election.

If any Friend wishes to put themselves forward and contest these three to become a Trustee, they should first contact Stephen Waley-Cohen at stephen@swc-office.co.uk to discuss what being a Trustee involves, and then if they wish to, they must send their full details (including name, address, email address, phone number, length of time as a Friend) together with a short statement as to why they wish to be a Trustee of the Friends, via email to Carmel McLoughlin, Secretary and Trustee of The Friends of the Scrubs at cmfowws@gmail.com. This needs to be received not less than 21 days in advance of the AGM ie no later than 23:59 on Monday 3rd June 2024. Details of all candidates standing for election, or re-election, as trustee will be circulated to all Friends with the formal Notice of the AGM. If there are any additional candidates for election as Trustee, then there will be a vote at the AGM on the 25th June, with the opportunity to vote by proxy if you cannot attend in person.

All the Trustees hope there will be a good attendance this year, with the Trustees planning to stay after the meeting to join Friends in conversation and refreshments. Do plan to come if you can.

Regards,

Carmel McLoughlin

Secretary and Trustee of the Friends of the Scrubs
