Airport runway….or Wormwood Scrubs?

Please write to HS2 and Balfour Beatty to get these lights switched OFF!!!

20 January, Friends Trustee Faye Thomas took this video of new lights which have been installed along the “access road” into HS2’s compound on the Scrubs. Those of us who don’t see the Scrubs at night much were completely horrified. In a few short weeks from now, endangered bird species will be trying to nest on the Scrubs but if these lights are shining like an airport runway, they will be scared away along with all other wildlife.

We are frankly astonished that HS2, with all its claims of being mindful of the environment, could even think this lighting was necessary or appropriate.

But we were even MORE astonished by the explanation give by Balfour Beatty for the lights….
