Monthly Volunteering Session: meadow management

Meet Kate McVay outside Linford Christie Stadium.

Our monthly volunteering session on Friday will involve the use of scythes and rakes to cut and collect some of our grassland areas within the wildlife meadow area. This meadow management programme is aimed at increasing wildflower coverage within our grassland habitats on site.

This opportunity is open to all and does not require previous experience with using a scythe. Additionally, you are welcome to join for any amount of time and are not expected to stay for the whole session if you have other obligations. I do however ask that you please let me know if you'll be joining us in advance so that I can prep tools and PPE for the day.

Please feel free to reach out to Kate with any questions/concerns on her mobile at 07485389730.

Sturdy footwear (preferably steel capped boots if you have them) and long trousers are REQUIRED.

Please bring a packed lunch, your own water, sun protection etc.
